Strike The Virgins Gently
2008's coolest band is back, The Virgins are releasing their
upcoming album Strike Gently. A few of the band members may have come
and gone since, but their new sound is still straightforwardly
rock-and-roll.

Trisha Brown and Company at BAM
Trisha Brown and Company are doing their final performance at BAM
(Brooklyn Academy of Music) this weekend and it is a MUST if you are in
or around NYC. I went last night and decided her modern dance should be
one of the mandatory languages offered in School right along with French
or Spanish. It is perhaps THE most primal and pure form of human
expression and emotion - no words necessary.

The Ultimate Wedge Salad

So, it's #FoodieTuesday on that Instagram thing and I'm in a pissy mood... what to do? Snap the F out of it and make this. It's my recipe for the greatest wedge salad on the planet. Yummmmm.... I'm gonna start bottling the dressing. No joke.
Serves 2-4
Start with the dressing:
4 oz. Maytag blue cheese
2 tbsp. heavy cream
2 tbsp. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp. worchestershire
1/4 tsp. hot sauce, such as Tabasco
1 small shallot, finely chopped
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Then, the salad:
1 head iceberg lettuce, cored and halved lengthwise
4 strips cooked, thick bacon - torn
10 cherry tomatoes, halved
8 basil leaves - torn
4 oz. crumbled Maytag blue cheese
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Flatbread or toasted pita
1. Make the dressing: In the bowl of a food
processor, combine blue cheese, cream, mayonnaise, milk, oil, worchestershire,
hot sauce and shallot - process until smooth and creamy, about 15 seconds.
Season dressing with salt and pepper, transfer to a small bowl. Set aside.
2. Arrange lettuce cut side up on two plates. Spoon
dressing over each wedge and garnish salad with bacon, tomatoes, basil and blue
cheese. Season with black pepper and serve with the flatbread or toasted pita.
